Salesforce offers various bundles of products and services, all of which are individually focused on a different set of business needs.

These bundles, which are called editions, have the same appearance, but vary according to features, functionality and pricing. For example, Territory Management for the enterprise is available in Enterprise and Unlimited Edition organizations with the Sales Cloud, but not in Professional Edition organizations. Some customers start with a basic edition and then upgrade as their business grows.

Salesforce Help describes all generally available features, including those that are not available in all editions. To find out if a particular service is available in your edition, search for the service in Salesforce Help and check the data in the "Available in:" table above any service topic.

Salesforce Main editions

Professional Edition

This edition is intended for companies that require full CRM functionality. Professional Edition includes clear and simple adjustment, integration and management tools to simplify a small to medium-sized implementation.

Enterprise Edition

This edition is designed for the needs of large and complex companies. In addition to all the functionality available in Professional Edition, organizations with Enterprise Edition receive advanced customization and pre-management tools that are suitable for large scale deployments. Enterprise Edition also gives access to the web services API, so that you can easily integrate with back office systems.

Unlimited Edition

This edition is Salesforce's ultimate solution for maximizing success and extending that success to the entire enterprise through the Force.com platform. Unlimited Edition customers can leverage new levels of platform flexibility to manage and share their information on demand. Unlimited Edition includes all Enterprise Edition functionality plus Premium Support, full mobile access, unlimited custom apps, wider storage limits, and so on.

Developer Edition

This edition provides access to the Force.com platform and API. With a Developer Edition organization, developers can expand the Salesforce system, integrate into other applications and develop new tools and applications. Developer Edition provides access to many of the features available at the Enterprise Edition organizations.

Other Salesforce editions

Certain Salesforce editions are no longer sold. You can continue to use your Contact Manager, Group, Personal, Performance or Database.com Edition organization, or you can purchase one of the currently available for sale: Professional, Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer Editions.

Contact Manager Edition

This edition was developed for small businesses and offers access to the most important contact management facilities, including accounts, contacts, activities, calendars, notes and attachments and reports. Contact Manager offers clear and simple options for adjustments.

Group Edition

This edition has been developed for small companies and work groups with a limited number of users. Group Edition users can manage their customers from the start of the sales cycle through the closing of the deal and providing customer support service. Group Edition provides access to accounts, contacts, opportunities, leads, cases, dashboards (read-only) and reports.

Personal Edition

This edition is a CRM solution designed for an individual sales representative or other single user. Personal Edition provides access to key contact management features, such as accounts, contacts, and synchronization with Microsoft Outlook®. This edition also offers sales representatives sales tools such as opportunities.

Performance Edition

This edition is designed for customers who need to achieve great growth, reach new levels of customer satisfaction and maximize the success of sales and service in the social and mobile world. lead and customer data from Data.com, coaching and feedback tools from Work.com, trusted identity services from Identity and much more. Database.com

Database.com is a cloud database service with multiple "tenants", developed for data storage for mobile, social enterprise applications.
